Description:

This vent is not provided in the kit.

There are two possible options for this vent. An early Olympic photo shows a curl vent, while a later Olympic photo shows the curl vent replaced by a new round topped vent with a motor.

It is unclear which one the Titanic but the round topped vent is favored based on the IOW photo in 'Discovery of the Titanic'.

Modeler's choice.

Make the following vent out of scrap plastic and pulled sprue or micro rod:

Option 1 (round topped vent):

  1. Build a left handed motor unit as described in the Motor Unit section of the Vent Overview.
  2. Drill vent opening opposite motor using a 2mm drill bit to a depth of 1.5mm or so and paint interior Gary.
  3. Build a curved duct out of scrap plastic or sprue and file into shape seen above.
  • Note: We support the round vent option over the curl model and have used that on our models.

Option 2 (curl vent):

  1. Build a left handed motor unit as described in the Motor Unit section of the Vent Overview.
  2. Build a curl vent as described in the Curl Vent section of the Vent Overview.
  3. Glue the curl to the motor unit with curl facing back over the motor.
  4. Glue the unit to the Deck with the motor facing aft.
